Christmas in California

This year I spent Christmas in San Diego with my best friend Susan
After arriving several hours late Thursday night we went and visited the Del Coranado to look at all the Christmas decorations and to do some window shopping. On Friday we did some last minute shopping before we headed to the neighbors for a Christmas party. Met some of the most interesting people of course since it was CA the majority of them were in the computer industry. Afterwards Susan, her brother Mark and I headed to downtown to check out the Carlsbad night scene. We found some of the most interesting bars with out door fireplaces and very rustic looking. Although I think the people watching was the highlight of the night, Susan even snagged herself a phone number, we laughed about that all weekend.

On Saturday we went to the wild life refuge of course I forgot my camera and I am so kicking myself because we got to see the most beautiful white tiger pouncing something that was in it's enclosure. The rinos and giraffs were so close to where the train went by I swear you could have touched them. Now as it seems on this trip nothing will go smoothly and this adventure wasn't any different one of the wheels on the train broke and we had to sit in the cold shivering not more than 100 yards from the end of the ride until the wheel was fixed.
On Sunday the boys went to a football game and us girls went and hit the shopping district which just so happens to be right along the beach. So after checking out the cute shops Susan and I decided to look at the local wildlife.

Trust me there were lots and lots and lots of birds

The rock formations on this part of the beach were very cool, it's amazing how just a little farther up the beach the sand was white and what you would think of when you think California.

Don't think you are ever safe from the birds, this one and another one who flew away were laughing their heads off at Susan when she slipped on some wet rocks. I mean it's not like she got wet or anything, but they just wouldn't quit laughing.
The next day was Chrismas Day so Susan and I decided to do the beach thing again while we waited to go to another christmas get together. This beach was the nice white sand kind, it was even clear enough that you could see pretty far out to sea.

Do surfers count as wildlife? Only we would end up sitting down at the bench where this was written on the hand rail.

YEAH it's Tuesday!!!! We finally get to go SKYDIVING!!!!
Everyone at Skydive Elsinore was GREAT they really made Susan and I feel right at home. We had some great jumps, even got to jump with Andrew from psycho cirkus. We had a fun belly dive with him while he was our freefall tour guide and then later in the day we did a kickass tracking dive. We are definately going to have to spend more than just one day skydiving the next time we are in SD.
It was then Wednesday and time to head home, so of course I snapped a couple of pics as we waved goodbye to CA.
